The Dawn Of Legends (Introduction Roleplay Fan Fiction)

Alfred looked around at the dark, dank cave around him. He took a breath from his nose while breathing out of his mouth. He had been preparing for quite awhile for the arrival of his new Masters and Mistresses. Most, he knew, would come from another Earth. One in which he, as a butler of course, had served them. He brushed his coat before moving to the middle of the Cave. A large, looming computer rose from the depths of the stalactites that furnished the ground.

Alfred tugged the glove down as his hand as he watched four sets of bodies appear in front of him. (Through the technology the higher ups had used. He had been almost impressed, but not all that much. He had been the butler of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Things just didn't seem to impress him.)

The people that fell into the room were big names, recognizable with the pictures and biographies he had been given by his employers.

"Welcome Master Dick, Master Tim, Master Conner, and Mistress Kara." Alfred bowed his head in respect to his new heep.

He would lead them well.

Dick groaned, picking himself from the ground. It took a bit too much effort in his opinion. He rotated his shoulder, trying to relieve the joint of its tightness. He shook his head lightly, trying to get the over whelming blurriness from his vision. When he looked he saw Alfred. And the Bat Computer.

What?

Then the man said his name. Dick almost considered himself whelmed. Oh no, let's not go back to his thirteen year old slang.

"Alfred?" He questioned, confused beyond all means.


Tim pushed himself off the floor a little more delayed than Nightwing, Dick, had been. He pushed himself up only to sway and almost fall back on his butt but he managed to keep some semblance of balance. He perked up a bit when he heard Alfred, it was like a vioce he hadn't heard in ages but he said all of their names. He blew all of their covers!

Tim looked to the side, almost relizing Alfred hadn't. It was just him, Dick, Kara and... Kon. Two Bats and two Supes? Seriously? What were the odds?

1 : 98573810 chance Tim's mind threw at him. He ran his fingers through his hair, trying not to sway more than he meant to.

"Alfred?" He heard Dick asked, almost like he couldn't believe he was standing there. He was almost glad his older brother had said something. He didn't exactly trust his voice at the moment.

A deep groan escaped passed the lips of The Boy of Steel as the kryptonian hybrid began to slowly return to the realm of consciousness. His mind was foggy and gave a dull ache, making him grown again as his body shifted on something cold and hard. The ground? Blue eyes opened up to see darkness. Only to blink and realizing he was looking at the ground while lying flat.

The raven-haired metahuman brought his hands against the ground and lifted his upper body up to look around. It took a moment for his fogged brain to register what he was seeing, other forms lying upon the ground. He heard someone speaking, an old man and looked about to see who it was. Who he saw was an old man, dressed fancy, looking at them all. he looked familiar. But his brain ached too much to remember from where.

Then he heard another voice. Looking over he spotted blue and black. Before it hit him. That was Nightwing. Nightwing was there. Looking at the other forms, his mind began to clear and he spotted others he knew too well. His cousin Kara, and- Tim. Kon-El felt himself grow a little calmer at seeing the other, though not for long as he took notice the look of pure confusion he had. Nightwing also appeared confused. That couldn't mean well.

"Anyone want to tell me what happened?" he asked out, his voice groaning out of exhaustion and light pain from his dulling head. Why did he feel so out of whack?

Kara groaned a little as she started to wake up on the floor. She started to moved off the ground, opening her eyes slowly. And the moment they had opened all the way, they widened.

Where am I?

She asked herself, before she looked around a little bit more, recognizing the place now.

Why am I at the Batcave?

She stood up as she looked around some more, stopping immediately when she saw Red Robin, Dick and Kon-El, "Guys..what's going on?" She asked as she looked around some more.

"Yes, Master Dick? I'll explain it all to you shortly, Master Conner and Mistress Kara." Alfred walked in front of the group, letting his eyes soak in the bodies he saw. Two of Bruce's children and two of Clark's children. Both men had been a great pleasure to serve while they had lived on this Earth. Alfred cleared his throat demanding everyone's undivided attention.

"Now, let me introduce myself. My name is," Alfred had been cut off.

"Alfred Pennyworth." Came the weaker voice of Tim. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. ALFRED? How'd... what. He felt a bit of tightness around his neck. Tim moved his hand, tugging on the thing that held his throat only to be shocked. Harshly.

Tim yelped loudly jumping as the pain had surprised him. Dick turned immediately to his adopted brother before looking at the others. Everyone in the room besides Alfred was wearing a collar around their necks. What was going on?

"Now if you'd let me explain!" Alfred chastised Tim like it was his own fault for the shock.

"You've been transported to an alternate Earth, here you will live your normal lives. Not crime fighting, there is no crime here in the Wayne Manor. If you intend to use your powers you'll received a bloody nasty shock. It hurts, as Tim can explain once he gets his bearings straight." Alfred took a pause in his explanation to let questions be asked by the people in front of him. He'd leave off the nastier bits until later.

Kon-El blinked as the old man, Alfred he remembered now, began to talk. Blue eyes blinked as his name was addressed, before Alfred looked at him. No not looked, stared at him. As if the man couldn't believe what he was looking at. As if he thought that if he blinked, Kon-El would disappear. At least, that's what it looked like to him. It was a bit odd.

As the old man began to introduce himself, Tim spoke out. His weak voice caught Kon's full attention as the kyrptonian hybrid looked at the boy wonder. Suddenly, the other brought his hands to his throat, only to tug at something before he cried out in pain. Kon stood up as he heard the yelp of pain, moving over to his friend in worry. He wobbled a bit at first,a sense of dizziness filling him from moving so quickly.

Blue eyes widened as he spotted the collar, before looking at the others. They too had collars. In a panic, Kon brought his hand up to his neck, to feel a metal collar of his own wrapped tightly around his neck. He was about to try and rip it off when Alfred spoke again. Shock filled Kon's body as he took in the words the other said. They were on another earth? Deja vu. he thought as he shook his head. As he was told he could not use his powers, he glared, a deep frown forming on his face. "I like to see it try." he snarled out before reaching up to his collar to tear it off. He barely started to use his strength when a sharp pain filled his body, as well as a sick sensation.

He groaned out, his legs giving in as dizziness filled his head. "Wh- what?" This sickness, he felt it before. Kryptonite. But from where?

Kara listened to Alfred speak, before she heard Red Robin let out a yelp of pain suddenly. She turned to look at the boy, her eyes widened as she saw the collar around his neck.

Though when she looked at the others..she saw that they had collars as well. Which make her hand go to her neck, freezing when she felt a collar around her neck as well. She then put her attention on Alfred when he spoke that they were in another earth. And how they weren't allowed to use their powers without receiving a shock from the collars. And she was about to speak when Kon-El spoke.

"Conner, no!" She yelled as he pulled at the collar. Before she watched him get hurt by the collar. But when she went to go help him, her eyes widened at the little green glow coming from the collar, making her back up instantly.

Kryptonite?!

She froze as she realized that he and herself didn't have a collar that shocked them..But a collar that stabbed their neck with kryptonite. Her eyes looked back at Alfred, wondering why he was doing this.

"As you've come to realize, Master Conner and Mistress Kara is that the collars are different for your kind. Though, just as lethal. We're trying to make sure you all don't kill each other... yet." Alfred spoke looking over at the two, silently asking if they were both okay. Tim looked shaken and Conner just looked overly pissed.

"Now, occasionally after you settle in there will be arena matches. Your job as a hero is to defeat the villains that you will be faced off against." Alfred stopped speaking before dawning on him that he forgot to add something.

"Fights are to the death, unfortunately my employers would not listen to reason. They demand blood."

Dick took a step to the side, making sure his brother was fine listening to Alfred, he took a breath trying to calm his nerves.

"Look, Alfred, I doubt Bruce likes fights to the death." Dick stated, the oldest of the vigilantes in the room ran his hand through his hair.

"Bruce Wayne is no longer my employer, I work for a different group. One that will ensure peace comes to Earth by a little sacrifice." Alfred added.

Tim stiffened, feeling Dick's hand on his shoulder. His idol was making sure he was okay before listening and replying to the 'bat'ler's statements. He felt like his stomach was hollow. This couldn't be right. Bruce would never allow this to happen to them...

Would he?

Kon's breaths came out in pants a his stomach rolled and he broke out into a sweat. He still felt woozy, but it didn't stop him from giving the old man a hated glare as a sneer formed on his face. He so badly wanted to punch something, but his rage was not enough to overcome the weak state he was in from the deadly green rock.

The Boy of Steel didn't wish to the old man as he spoke, feeling his anger directed at the man for the state he was in. And though pulling at the collar was his own fault, he felt justified in placing the blame and anger on the butler. After all, he clearly had some hand in the collar being put on. If only i could tear it off. he thought with a growl. As the mention of arena matches were brought up, Kon halted in his snarling and blinked. Matches? Like what he used to do with Rex leech? Been there. Done that. he thought with a snort. That was until he heard fights to the death.

His body froze upon that, a deep breath forming out of his weak body. That- That was- Sick. his mind thought as a growl left his mouth again. Just who were these employers that thought of this? "Just who are these sick bastards you call bosses?" he snarled out, forcing himself to stand again. "What peace could possibly be brought with fighting to the death?" he continued, his eyes looking at the man with a heated glare. "And where's batman!?" he asked, his hands clenching into fists.

Kara's eyes widened a little when Alfred explained their collars were different. Making her scared to even use her powers..The powers she grew to love, the powers she helped people with. And then she heard him speak about the matches.

Well..as long as we don't kill them..

She thought, before Alfred spoke about the matches were deadly matches, making her eyes widened, "D-death..?" She asked, feeling herself get a little scared now. And before she could talk, Kon-El had spoken out. Which brought her attention onto him, taking a step forward, "Calm down, Conner!" She said, worried that her cousin would get too angry, that he would use his powers again. She then looked back at Alfred.

How could this man..a man who helped Batman..want to do something like this? Why would he give up on trying to get the matches to just be knocked out wins..She couldn't understand..she was..conflicted on her feelings.

"Batman on this Earth is dead." Alfred said giving a quick nod. Watching the reactions to those around him. He was loyal to the Wayne family; had been for many, many years. With his death he found himself lost when his employers had given him this job. Watch over the heroes from another Earth. Possibly be reunited with the family that he raised but left his nest of a home when they were old enough. They had all walked into their deaths at some point of another.

"I'm here to protect you, which is why I am here. Making sure you all live by the end of this."

Dick knew what the answer had been before Alfred spoke. As did Tim. They both stiffened, the younger of the brothers almost trembled at the thought while the older took a breath to settle the raging thoughts. Alfred never said killing an evil doer was wrong. Never in his life, Dick knew the elderly man had been through wars. He had to kill and help heal the wounded. It seemed this is where he laid best in any situation.

"Don't act rashly." Dick ordered to his team members. Well, most of them had been on a team he lead at one point or another.

Tim understood and it made him sick. He really didn't want to think Batman, his recently adopted father. Menor, his leader was dead. It sent a shiver down his spine.

"It's the easiest way to protect us..." Tim whispered out, earning a squeeze on his shoulder from Dick. Tim was trying not to do anything too 'power'y. Dick and himself didn't really have abilities so to speak. How would the collars shock them?

Kon tried to relaxing his hands at Kara's words, not wanting to get his cousin mad at him, but he would rather ignore her warning and just let his temper out. And even more ignore Alfred. However the words the other spoke got his attention. Blue eyes widened as Kon stilled. Hearing that the great Batman was dead... it was hard to take in. Though the man had no superpowers, there were times that the intimidating man seemed just as invincible as Superman. Speaking of Superman... what happened to this Earth's superman? Did he even want to know. A pained look began to morph on his face at the very idea that lingered int eh back of his mind.

As Alfred claimed to be there to protect them, Kon felt himself stiffen as a glare formed on his eyes. He couldn't help not fully trusting the man. Not in such an Earth as this. But before he could do or say anything, Nightwing spoke. The Boy of Steel shot his head towards the man, blinking before he took a deep breath and nod his head. He needed to calm down. Loosing his temper would only lead to rash actions and possibly more kryptonite. A deep frown formed on his face at that thought, his hand touching his collar again.

And then Tim's voice spoke out. It was a whisper, but he heard it clear as day. Blue eyes looked upon his dear friend with worry, his heart clenching at the idea of the Red Robin's hands becoming stained with red. To do the opposite of what he was taught to do. And I too will have to make it rain red. he thought, a shudder running through his back. Would that effect how he was as a person? would he become darker by doing such a thing? Become closer to the worse part of his DNA makeup?

he didn't know. And that terrified him the most.

Kara sighed of relief, seeing that her cousin was calming himself down. She then looked back at Alfred, freezing when she heard that Batman had died. Which shocked her. How could Batman die? How did he die? How could someone like him die? The man that fought like he was Superman, a man who didn't look like he could died.

She looked down as she wasn't liking this place, and not liking what she was hearing. She crossed her arms as she stared at the floor, trying to tune everything out. Her blonde hair fell in front of her face as she just stayed silent.

She only looked up when she heard Dick giving them a order, making her nod, before she looked back down.

Alfred watched everyone's reaction, giving a sympathetic look, "This world has had it's heroes and villains completely wiped from existence. Which is why you are all able to stand here without dying or ripping this universe apart." Alfred explained, taking another breath. Their reactions were getting to him. He raised to of the people here, it was so hard not to slip into being the doting grandfather but he knew better.

He needed to make sure they lived.

"I'm what you would call a Protector. There are more of me, not exactly me but other protectors lurking in this world. Most are not as kind as I am. Do not hate me, I only wish to keep you safe. Your collars do turn off in certain areas on the Wayne Manor. Only in the Medical Bay and designated training areas. And Master Conner and Mistress Kara, you cannot rip off your collars at all. any attempt to take of the collars will... kill you. Be on the safe side, just don't mess with it."

Dick shifted lightly, moving away from his scared (rightfully confused as well) brother. Taking a step forward, "I'm guessing all identities are also nullified, right?" He took a shot in the dark and frowned when Alfred nodded his head. So, masks did nothing? Astrous. Not.

Tim moved away from Dick who was asking a question looking over his best friend, "Y-you okay, K-Kon?" Tim said, looking over the hybrid to make sure the kid was okay. He was worried the moment he heard Kryptonite. How did these people seem to find a rare element like it was no one's business?

Kon-El felt himself take another deep breath as Alfred explained his position in all of this. A protector. He almost wanted to scoff at the title. I'm wearing a collar that has the very thing that can kill me. Yeah, I feel protected. he thought with a roll of his eyes. At hearing how he could never tear his collar off, he almost snorted. Really? he thought, wanting to growl again.

But before he could go back to being mad, his attention was brought by the soft voice he knew so well. Blue eyes looked over to his best friend as the other expressed his concern. Kon gave a conflicted smile, trying to reassure him in some way. "I'm..." he was what? Ok? Certainly not. Hurt? Not as bad as before, and he didn't want to seem weak. "Nothing I can't handle." he decided to settle for.

Casting his own look of worry, his hand shot out and touch the other's shoulder. His hand resting near the neck as he tried to offer some comfort. "How about you?' he asked, remembering the nasty shock the other took. Tim was human after all. He could get hurt easier. Not to say his friend was weak. Oh no. Kon knew very well that the boy was anything but weak and helpless. "You ok?' he asked, his eyes softening. But this was more than just the collar shock. Tim had just been told that the Batman, though not the one they knew, was dead and told he would have to kill.

Kara was still looking at the ground..When she suddenly remembered a thought, making her look up at Alfred, "You said every hero..is dead in this world? Does that mean..our..alternate selves are..dead? Including Superman, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter?" She asked as her eyes were wide.

Alfred nodded to Dick question then to Kara's question, not the least disturbed by the statements. He bowed his head, wondering what to say next. He had practice and practice his statements.

"I will show you to your rooms now. You will be allowed to explore the Manor. Master Dick and Master Tim you'll find the Manor looks exactly the same as the world you came from." Alfred explained.

Dick sighed looking at the team behind him. He was glad to have people who had already known his civilian identity. It would make the transition smoother. He moved to Kara wanting to offer her a bit of a condolence (if you could even call it that).

"They weren't people we knew, they aren't our friends and family, Kara." Dick tried to help her make it easier to take the news. Which was kind of hard to do with his mask on.

Tim nodded, glad to hear Kon was okay. He was still jolted from the shock but didn't tell Kon.

"Yeah, I'm d-doing fine." Tim winced went his voice lost its footing in his throat. His muscles spasm-ed once more before stopping. Humans tended to have the effects of electrocution last longer than Kryptonians. Then again all wounds seemed to affect humans longer than anyone else.

Kon looked at his friend with worry at the weak voice that stuttered out of his friend's mouth. His hand gently rubbed where it was on the other's shoulder, hoping to express the sadness and concern he had for his friend. He was never very good at expressing such feelings with words. He opened his mouth to say something, only to close it as Alfred spoke.

He frowned slightly before nodding. His attention was then taken to Nightwing and his cousin. Blue eyes blinked as he took in the state the blonde kryptonian was in. Then it occurred to him how hard this must be for her. While h reacted in anger, she reacted differently. With sorrow at the fallen comrades. Kon felt his eyes soften with sorrow as he looked at her, taken note of Nightwing's words. And as true the words were, it was still had to take to heart.

The very idea of Superman and Batman dead made his heart clench and despair fill him. He who was created to replace Superman, could not stand the thought of the Man of Steel to be dead. With a shake of his head, he looked back at Tim and tried to give a smile. He failed.

Kara just stood there in shock when Alfred nodded to her question. She looked down immediately as she could feel the tears welling up.

Though when Dick came up to her, and told her that they weren't the friends and family they knew, she looked up at him. She nodded, before feeling the tears fall down her cheeks, making her bite her lip. Even though they weren't the same people they knew..They were all friends in this universe, and had family..And they had to watch each other die, and just the thought that they could die..scared her. And it could show all over face.

"B-but...they...they were family..i-in this universe.." She spoke softly, trying to not cry, but was failing miserably.

Dick quickly hugged the woman. Offering himself for emotionally support, more than he could really ever find from another when he needed it.

"Kara, I know. I know. But... they didn't know us. We don't know them. We need to keep ourselves as up as we can so they didn't die in vain. We'll live, because they died. Just think of it like that." Those words tended to be the ones Bruce used to console him with after his parents' murder. When he used to believe he wished he had died instead of them. Dick was trying, he really was.

Tim looked at his idol hugging the emotional Supergirl when a thought came to his own head. He wrapped his arms around his best friend, offering him some emotional outlet to use. It was far too common knowledge that Kon had issues with opening up emotionally. But Tim wanted him to know he was there, whenever. Like a best friend should be.

Alfred watched the hugged session. He tried his best not to smile but his efforts were in vain. He gave a soft smile not wishing to ruin a moment he had longed to see. Bats and Supers getting along.

Kon felt himself stiffen as he felt arms wrap around him. He had been distracted by the words Nightwing had spoken that he did not realize anyone was coming close to contact him. Blinking he realized it was Tim who had brought his arms around him. Hugging him. A light blush filled the super's cheeks as he slowly began to relax, allowing this show of affection. His heart thudded against his chest as he slowly brought his own arms around the smaller man.

This was ok right? Hugging Tim like he was? He hadn't much experience with signs of affections. At least in manners of hugging outside of his time dating Cassie. He hugged me, so it has to be ok. he decided, having his arms tighten a little around his best friend. This alone helped made him feel better.

Though there was still so much going through his mind, the worries and anger and fear, he was able to let some of it go with this embrace. It was really nice. Something he could get addicted to. I wonder how often I can get to hug Tim like this. he wondered briefly, suddenly wanting to have more in the future.

Kara froze when Dick suddenly hugged her, before she hugged him back, burying her face into his shoulder. She cried softly. Until she calmed down a little to listen to him, backing up as she wiped her tears and nodded. She smiled softly, "O-okay.." She said as she then looked over at Kon and Tim, seeing that they were hugging. And she couldn't but smile a little bit more at the sight.

She then looked at Nightwing, "Thanks.." She said, thanking him for letting her cry on his shoulder.

Dick moved his hands in a circluar pattern on her back to help sooth her cry. He could feel the wetness seeping into his suit. It didn't matter, she just needed tog et better right now. They needed to be at their best.

"It's alright, if you ever need me for something like this just find me. I'll be there." Dick smiled at her giving her shoulders a reassuring squeeze before looking at the shorter Tim trying to imiate his actions. Hwe couldn't help but smile widely at the view.

Tim was nervous when he didn't get an immediate reaction from the Boy of Steel but when he felt the larger, stronger arms move around him. He could hear the normally steady heart beat speed up. Was he doing this right? His cheeks felt warmer as he thought about it. Maybe he wasn't cut out for this like Dick was. Dick had always been a better people person than he was.

Tim let go of his friend, noticing Dick giving him a huge smile while Kara looked at them. He face was a bit redder now. God, he could only imagine what everyone thought of him now.

A bit of disappointment filled Kon as Tim pulled back out of the hug. Already, he was missing the warmth the other provided. But watching the blush from across his best friend's cheeks, well.. well it left something tugging at his heart. All he could think of that his friend was adorable. If only he was looking at him...

Instead, Kon looked behind him to see what had his friend's attention. Only to see Nightwing and Kara looking at them with smiles. His own blush began to manifest form it, suddenly feeling embarrassed and awkward. Was the hugging not ok? No. If it wasn't they wouldn't be smiling right? But then again, they could be warming up to start teasing.

Biting his lip, he looked back down at Tim and cleared his throat. "Um.." he began, his eyes looking to the side as he struggled with the words. As he found them, he looked directly in the other's eyes. "Thanks. For the hug." as he said this, his blush darkened just a little.

Kara smiled as she felt Dick comfort her, before she nodded at him. She then looked back at her cousin and Red Robin. She laughed when they looked shocked when they caught her and Dick smiling. Kara looked back at Alfred, "What now?" She asked as she didn't know what to do now..They received the information they needed.

"Well, I shall show you to your rooms. Each assigned room has a metal name plate. Master Dick and Master Tim, you'll find your rooms are in the same place as they were in your own Earth." Alfred looked at everyone giving a nod.

"Just follow me and then you can explore."

Dick watched Tim and Kon interact before looking back over at Alfred, "Alright, Alfie. By the way do you still make Midnight cookies?" Dick smirked at the idea.

Tim nodded, "I-it was not problem. T-that's what f-friends are for." He stuttered out, feeling overly embarrassed. He perked up a bit and looked at Alfred with large eyes, "Do you?!" Both of the Wayne boys stared at the man, suddenly interested if the treats were to be given.
