Arena battle Superwoman vs Nightwing

The audience fell silent as the lights were lit, pointing to the center of the arena. The platform rose from the center of the ring, holding two people on it. "Now ladies and gents!! Let me introduce you to todays fighters. On the hero corner we have, Nightwing!! The limb and agile acrobat from Gotham city!!" The light moved to Nightwing and the crowd cheered. "Aaaand on the villain side we have the beautifull and smoking hot queen of the crime syndicate, Superwoman!!!" Another spotlight was pointed to Superwoman and the crowd cheered again. After a while the lights came back on and the arena was revealed. "Today our fighters will be battling in a glacier." The announcer said as the icebergs and snow was raised up on the battle field. "The contestants might want to know that there are weapons hidden in the arena, so good luck and give us a good show!!" The announcer went quiet as the crowd roared in excitement.

Amanda looked up at the audience. Her eyes wandering to the vip box that you couldn't see in from here. She narrowed her eyes. She would surely give her Protector friends a show. She flew up, looking down at Nightwing. "Are you ready boy?" She asked raising her eyebrow.

Nightwing shut his eyes behind his domino mask. He felt his muscles tensing in preparation for the show he was about to his. This was all a show, a performance. One last, lethal, performance.

He'd go out like his parents, in front of a crowd.

"Bring it, capes." Nightwing said, slipping into a defensive stance. He could go hand-to-hand with Superman and win. She'd have to seriously injured him before he'd let her kill him. Maybe he could just knock her out and that would be the end of that? He wasn't sure.

He wasn't sure he'd ever be sure.

Laura had woken up in a arena. She slowly got up, before her eyes widened when she suddenly heard the announcement. She suddenly ran to one of the bars of the arena, grabbing them as she saw Dick in the arena.

Her heart seemed to stop as her stomach turned. As she watched in horror.

No..please let this be a dream!

Kara woke up, before jumping to her feet fast when she heard the announcement. She quickly went to the bars right next to the black haired woman.

She looked at Nightwing in horror..He was..in the arena match? He was the first one?

No.

Kara's hands suddenly gripped the bar tight, "COME ON NIGHTWING! YOU CAN DO IT!" She yelled.

Laura looked at the blonde hair girl, watching her try to encourage Dick. Something she herself couldn't do..She was speechless, and her heart was aching..

Her eyes went back to Dick as she just continued to watch..

Groaning, Wally clutched his head as he became aware of where he was exactly. Making a conscious effort to sit up without the use of his speed, he looked around. The first thing that awoke him from his dazed state were Kara's shouts.

"COME ON NIGHTWING! YOU CAN DO IT!"

Nightwing? Dick? What does he have to do with anything. Finally looking around him, he noticed the bars and the arena behind them. Slowly walking up to the bars in order to delay the inevitable, he finally looked over them. He saw Nightwing - his best friend - in the arena below about to face off Superwoman.

The matches have begun already? he thought dreadfully. This can't be happening, this can't be happening, thiscan'tbehappening....

He slowly sank to his knees, unable to continue watching the arena. Wally was no fool, he knew what Dick was planning. Wally never got to say goodbye.

Bruce awoken, on again, with a groan before sitting up from where he was placed. He was in an unfamiliar area, that had loud cheering going on. Bars were soon spotted and it didn't take long for the Dark Knight to realize what was going on. He was at the arena. Which only meant one thing....

"COME ON NIGHTWING! YOU CAN DO IT!"

Bruce's heart faltered before feeling as if it went into this throat as he approached the bars and spotted his son standing there with Superwoman. God it really was happening. Dick! he thought miserably as he watched with a since of sorrow within him. he knew what the other was going to do. And he was powerless to stop it.

All he could do was cast his eyes upon the sight of his boy, and take in what would be his final image. Your final act Dick. he thought with sorrow, bringing his hand against his face as he took in a deep breath.

Jason woke up, shaking his head as he didn't know where he was.

"COME ON NIGHTWING! YOU CAN DO IT!"

Jasons eyes flew open as he ran to the bars of the box they were all in. He saw Dick on the arena, suddenly it all became too real for him. He looked to his side seeing Bruce there. "He is going to die because of your stupid morals!!!" He spat at his adoptive father, squeezing the railing until his knuckles turned white. How could the people cheer on this massacre?

Harley looked over the rail at Nightwing and Superwoman. "This should be interesting." She mumbled as she looked over the grounds. She stuffed a lolly pop in her mouth and waited for the fight to start.

Pietro watched his arms crossed as he looked over the fighting area. This would be a good way to understand the capabilities of these hero's.

Beast Boy looked out over the Arena. His eyes widened as he saw Nightwing. He hadn't even gotten to see him until now and now he might not get to talk to him at all.


"COME ON NIGHTWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Bruce turned his head as he heard Jason's voice. He almost flinched at the other's words, knowing that some of it was true. Gazing sorrow filled eyes upon the son he already lost once, he felt allowed himself to be affected. He deserved it. "I know." was all he said, his voice that of a broken man before he looked back at the arena. His hands against the bars shaking. True he had told Dick to break that one rule, to survive and live, and that Dick decided himself to not let them break him and die with his morals instead. But- But-

But he would never have come to that decision if I hadn't taught him that rule. Had I never had him become Robin in the first place. Whose to say what kind of person Dick would have been had he never taken the mantle of Boy Wonder? But all Bruce could tihnk of was, even if he was still Bruce's son, had he never been Robin he would have stayed alive.

"He is going to die because of your stupid morals!!!"

Laura jumped a little when she heard someone yelling next to her. Her eyes then trailed to see who he was looking at. Stopping when she saw a man with black hair, who seemed greatly upset at what was going on..And what the man had yelled at him.

And it slowly came to her..that was was probably Dick's adoptive father..Her eyes softened as she turned her focus back on Dick. Her hands squeezing the rail as she was starting to shake a little. The tears starting to form..

Why him..?

She asked herself, before trying to make herself calm..Though only a few tears made it down her face, before she forced herself to stop..It was just the beginning of the match! He could still win this!

Jason felt a surge of rage wash over him like the ocean waves washed the shores. Bruce didn't understand the fault of his no killing rule. The bad guys would always win. If you couldn't kill them they would allways win. He shot a glared at Bruce, letting go of the railing. He punched Bruce hard to the face. He knew the man would only torture himself with this, like he tortured himself with everything that went wrong in his life. Hell Bruce might even punch him back, but right now he didn't care. Hitting his adoptive father felt good. He turned his back on Bruce, walking to the other end of the box. Feeling he needed some distance between himself and Bruce, trying to calm the rage that was shaking every fiber of his body. Dick didn't deserve this.

Superwoman smirked as she looked down at the boy. "So be it wonderboy." She said as she flew down towards him, her eyes glowing red as she used her heat vision aiming at Nightwing.

"It's Boy Wonder!" Dick yelled out, twisting his body as he threw himself into a lunge to get out of the way of the heat vision. He watched part of the Arena become wet. If he really got wet he'd be screwed. Dick heard people yelling but would hear exactly what. They were probably cheering him on. Damn.

He ran forward, trying to out run the flying woman behind him. He dropped a smoke bomb and slid into a small crevice in the ice. He needed a plan right now!

Laura had turned her head to look back at the man who yelled at Dick's adoptive father. But had turned just in time to see him punching him. Her eyes widened, before she just looked away. Finding it was none of her business.

Her eyes widened when saw the heat vision ray heading towards Dick, "Nightwing!" She yelled out by reflex, before she bit her lip when she saw he had dodged the attack. Her eyes stayed glued to the two.

Though she was leaning over the bar now as her grip on it was getting tighter. And still trying to fight the tears away.

Kara froze in horror when Superwoman shot a heat ray at Dick. Before she jumped a little when the woman next to her yelled out Nightwing. She looked at her, wondering how she knew Dick. Though she turned her attention back to the arena.

Suddenly a hard force hit against his cheek, causing Bruce's head to turn sharply as a groan of pain left his mouth. Bringing his hand up to his cheek, he watched as Jason turned around and walked away. But the Dark Knight did nothing. He deserved to be punched. It was his fault Dick was ever stuck in this whole mess, that he was about to loose his life. Oh god. he thought as his face showed his despair.

He watched Jason go, his eyes full of sorrow before he turned to look back at the match. Only to see smoke. Bruce's heart began to race as he tried to catch sight of Dick. Where was he?

He recalled hearing an unfamiliar voice screaming out Nightwing, her voice in terror. He sought out the source of it, seeing a young woman with long black hair gripping the rails like her life depended on it. Did she know Dick? Who was she?

I can't think of that right now. he thought his eyes snapping back to the arena. He had to spot Dick. To know he was alright. Even if he knew what the end result would be. Please god not yet! he thought as his heart lurched in his throat and his hands shook upon the rail they held on. He ignored the pain in his face.

She flew up when she saw the smoke bomb explode. She waited for it to clear out. She let her eyes scan the glacier, trying to spot the man. "Hiding from the death are we?" She asked mockingly as she landed on the ground. She walked slowly looking in the nooks and crannies she couldn't see in from the air. "Come out, come out I won't promise to be gentle." She chuceled at her own words.

Harley ohhed and ahhed as she watched the battle. This was getting good.

Pietro watched carefully. The guy fighting was good but he wasn't planing on killing his appoint that was obvious. He just didn't have that kill or be killed mentality. He wouldn't be able to do it.

Beast Boy watched in fear as Nightwing fought. He then heard the fight going on in the stands someone fighting with Batman angry. He stomped over.


"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS?!?! YOU CAN FIGHT LATTER!!! NIGHTWING NEEDS SUPPORT RIGHT NOW NOT HIS FAMILY TEARING IT'S SELF APART!!! SO FOCUS ON HIM!! BE ANGRY LATTER!!" Beast Boy turned back to the fight to cheer on his friend hoping that he would survive.

Nightwing kept himself in the crevice as he heard the woman getting closer. He rolled his exploding wing-ding in fingers as he threw it down in front of her as the smoke started to clear. He threw himself backwards, trying to get away from the explosion. It would leave a nook for him to use later in the battle.

Cause seriously? He couldn't beat a Wonder Woman wanna be. Well maybe he could, but he couldn't kill her.

Remember, Dick, it's all about the Performance. He thought to himself.

Beast Boy's shout brought Wally out of his stunned state. Getting up from where he had sunk to his knees, he walked toward to small gathering of people. The first person he noticed was Batman, and the second thing he noticed was that Beast Boy just shouted at the Batman.

Taking a deep breath, he spoke, "Beast Boy's right. We gotta do everything in our power to help him along this, it's not the time to fight." He surprised himself with his somber tone. Usually he would break the tension with a joke or something, but nothing came to him at this moment. Turning away, he walked to stand beside the green changeling and turned his attention to the match.

Amanda flew up when she realised it was going to explode. She drew her lungs full of air and blew the smoke away. She smirked as she saw Nightwing running away. She flew towards him fast, slamming him against an ice wall. She punched him hard to the side. "Where are you running pretty boy? You are supposed to fight me." She whispered to his ear.

Jason closed his eyes in annoyance. He couldn't watch Dick running away like a coward, nor take the yelling in the hero box. "JUST MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUISNESS AND I'LL MIND FUCKING MINE!!! GOT THAT WEST?! FREAK BOY?!" He asked looking at both of them with an angry glare.

Laura turned when she heard the man who punched the other man earlier yelling at a boy with green skin. Her eyes narrowed as she gripped the bar tighter, and was about to yell at him..But was interrupted when she heard hard impact, making her head whip to look at the arena, freezing when she saw that Superwoman had slammed Nightwing into wall.

Her eyes widened in horror, gripping the bars tighter, feeling the tears fall from her eyes. She leaned more forward, "Come on Nightwing! You can do it!" She yelled, trying to give Dick the will to win, not wanting to see him go.

Please...don't take him away from me, and his family and friends.

It seemed the others took notice of the hit the Dark Knight had taken. Because before he knew it, Bruce found himself being yelled at by the young green man known As Beast Boy. And Bruce let it happen. Let the words be shouted at him. He couldn't seem to find himself to hear what the words were, but he knew he deserved it. Then Wally appeared, speaking oddly calmly and without any jokes. His words Bruce could somehow hear. Not time to fight.

They were right. It was not the time. No, because this was the time to watched what little he could of Dick while the other was still alive, still there living and breathing.

He didn't look at any of them. No, Bruce eyes remained locked onto Dick some sort of explosion occurred before Dick took off running. Run Dick! he thought his heart lurching in his throat. He couldn't move. Couldn't speak. He could only watch.

He heard Jason yelling once more, but couldn't tears his eyes eyes away form his eldest son. Only to see Superwoman ram Dick into the ice. His teeth clench together and his hands tightened on the bars. God that was his boy! And he was unable to help him, to protect him. With a deep breath, he broke away from the bars and turned his eyes away. They sought out Jason and quickly, the Dark Knight moved towards him.

He looked at his wayward son for just a moment before his arms reached out in a flash, grabbing hold of the other and bringing him into an embrace. He spoke not a word, and just held the boy as he heard the crowds yelled and cheered and his eldest get hurt by the villainous woman.

Dick could hear screaming and cheer, not only from the audience but from familiar voices.

Oh God they were watching.

Dick throat felt dry as he flicked his eyes to the stands as he clawed into the hand the held him up. He watched Bruce just moved towards Jason... and hug him.

His death would bring the Bat family closer together.

He decided he was done. This was enough. He looked at Superwoman, he had made his peace with the idea of death. The idea of dying no longer scared him.

"...If you're going to kill me, please make it painless. I have no intention of ever hurting or killing you." He stated in a low voice letting his hands drop to his sides. His vision was swimming as the lack of oxygen in his blood causing some of his muscles to completely stop responding.

His eyes alone moved behind his domino mask as looked to his family. His friends. His girlfriend.

'I love you.'

His eyes shut, as he felt his body fall limply. He wouldn't die, not like this. Not with the burning sensations filling his lungs as his body tried to breath.

I'm coming home...

Tim stood there, just watching. He had calculated how this would happen but... he expected a longer battle. A longer fight. Why hadn't Dick told him about this? He felt tears rolling down his face as he watched his older brother, his only reason for being here. Dick had found him, Dick had persuaded Bruce to take him, Dick... Dick... Dick. It was always him. It always had been.

Dick was so good, so pure. Why did he have to go? It wasn't fair... It wasn't fair!

Tim wanted to yell and scream at the others for not paying attention to the fight, but he couldn't. Words wouldn't leave his throat, it felt like it was swelling shut. His eyes burned as they kept blurring and sharpening the view in front of him.

Dick's hands fell.

Dick wasn't fighting back anymore, he couldn't. The woman was choking the life out of him.

Couldn't he have stopped it? He should have been able to stop it!

"Dick!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. His brother, his pseudo father figure, his leader, his friend, his idol, his reason Red Robin even existed was going to die.

And he was powerless to stop it.

Kon had awoken, much later than others, in the arena, his mind a bit dazed before he began watching the fighting, realization dawning on him. Dick's fight, it was happening. he watched with stilled breath as Dick hid and ran, never fighting back. It was strange to Kon, the other said he was gonna kick ass. And then, Dick was't doing anything at all. Why was he- But then the goodbye rang in his head.... Blue eyes widened. Shit. No

DICK!

Hearing Tim;s shout, Kon snapped his head, looking for the other. He finally realized too late what Dick really wanted to say the night before. [i]I'm so stupid.[/i[ he thought as he ran towards his boyfriend, wrapping his arms around the other and holding him to his chest. He had to be there for Tim. Like he promised himself, and Dick, that he would.

Holding the one he cared for deeply close, his eyes took int eh sight of Dick being strangled. His teeth gritted but he forced hismelf to watch, holding Tim all the while and refusing to let him go.

Amanda frowned before rolling her eyes. "For crying out loud! I thought you were a man!!" She grabbed him by the neck, twirling him so he was facing the audience and his hero friends. She pulled his head back so he would look up. "Take a good look. They will curse you for not fighting back. And they will despise me for killing you. Not that I mind ofcourse." She whispered to his ear, giving it a little kiss. She then hardened her face, twisting his neck, snaping it like a twig. She let him drop to the ground lifeless. "But I guess you just don't care." She said as she stepped over his body, heading towards the opening gates that led out of the arena. She couldn't care less about the cheers and boos from the crowd. She was just doing her job.

Jason tensed when Bruce suddenly hugged him. It was shocking. He didn't know how to react. Part of him wanted to hug back, part of him wanted to push him away. And there was even a part of him that wanted to push him away and throw him over the railing to replace Dick. He didn't have time to decide what to do with the embrace when he heard the crowd gasp. He pushed Bruce away just in time to see Dicks body fall to the groud. He squeezed his hands into tight fists, gritting his theeth. "Just for you Dick.... I will join the hero side.... Just so I can kill that bitch myself...." He was fighting the tears, the anger, the desire to just go nuts and break everything in his way.

Laura's eyes widened as she watched Dick give up.

No..please Dick. Please!

Her hands gripped the bar tighter, before watching how Dick looked up at the others..Before seeing he was facing her, and read his lips..

"I love you."

Her heart sank as her eyes went even wider. She leaned over and screamed his name the same time Tim had screamed his name. And felt the tears fall from her eyes as she shook her head.

No! No! NO!

She then froze when the woman made him look at her and the others, her whole body shaking as she felt like time was slowed as he wasn't fighting..and the woman was holding him..

Before that awful..awful..moment...

She snapped his neck.

Her eyes seemed to have go as wide as they could, her hands white from gripping the bars. Her whole body shaking as she was registering what had just happened..

And when she did.

"DIIIIIIICCK!!!!" She screamed in horror and agony as she leaned over and started to cry. Before she just watched the woman drop his body like it was nothing..And she wanted to run out to the arena, wanting to just try to see if there hint of life..But she knew there wasn't..There was no way someone would live through that..not without superpowers.

Laura just fell to her knees as she continued to hold the bar and cried right there, on her knees. She beat the bars after a bit, before beating once more as she continued to sit there and whimper and cry..

Why..why..him..? Why..?

Laura just stayed where she was, letting the rain soak her. Hoping this was all a dream..

When it wasn't..

She opened her eyes, hoping to see she was somewhere else..But she wasn't..she still saw Dick's body on the ground. Lifeless.

She moved her head to the left fast, breaking down even more as she just gave up on trying to think this was a dream..Why..why was it everytime she fell for someone..They were taken away from her. Every god damn time.
