Bio:
Born in New York City to Irish immigrants, Joseph and Sara Rodgers. His father passed away when he was a child and his mother when he was a teen. Young Steve was not always the strong man he is today. He actually grew to be a tall but scrawny young man with a love for drawing. He became a fine arts student specializing in illustration, drawing and writing comic books. However when war started, he gladly put it all aside to enlist in the army. However, due to his scrawny build, he was rejected. But his patriotic spirit did not wither and die. And it was what caused him to be noticed by General Chester Phillips and Project: Rebirth.
Steve volunteered to be a test subject for a serum to create the perfect soldier. After the injections and being exposed to "Vita-Rays", the experiment was a success. Given the code name: Captain America, he was set into battlefield and fought against Nazis and an evil organization called Hydra. As he fought as an American Hero, he held his secret identity of Steve Rodgers as a clumsy infantry private in Camp Lehigh in Virginia. Here he developed a friendship with the teenage mascot James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes. The other discovered his identity as Captain America and promises to keep it a secret, but only if he would work along side him. And thus Cap's young sidekick Bucky was made.
Together, the two of them fought against the evils of Hydra and the Red Skull. During their adventures, President Franklin D. Roosevelt awarded Captain America with a new shield, forged from an alloy of steel and vibranium. The shield was a great asset to fighting crime. However, in late April of 1945, things took a turn for the worse. He and Bucky were trying to stop the villainous Baron Zemo from destroying an experimental drone plane. The two got onto the plane before it took off and Bucky tried to disarm the bomb. However it exploded mid air. Captain fell into the icy waters of the north Atlantic. Nothing was known about Bucky and both were presumed dead.
Steve was found again many decades later, frozen and preserved in ice, by the Avengers. After being thawed out, Captain America found himself lost and dazed, in disbelief of how much things had changed and that it was not 1945. After getting over his shock, he became an Avenger. Though he's of a different time, he's a valuable asset to the team and many times shows great leadership.
